The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) 2010 Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse estimates that the typical organization loses 5% of its annual revenue to fraud.  In addition, this report highlights that internal controls alone are insufficient to fully prevent occupational fraud and that fraud will last a median of 18 months before being detected.
